About Azad University (IR) in Oxford

Azad University (IR) in Oxford (AUO) was established in July, 2004 and is the first Islamic Azad University (IAU) campus in Europe. IAU is the largest university in Iran and one of the largest universities in the world with more than 1 million students and more than 30,000 staff members. 

AUO is located just outside Oxford (4.8 miles), in the village of Farmoor, located at Stroud Court. This small, user friendly campus is quipped with excelent educational facilities and acres of beautiful woodland grounds. AUO also provides accommodation support for students that need a helping hand. They will be able to cater to your needs wether it be a short or long term accomodation of their students. 

AUO offers courses from foundation level to doctoral level, as well as short courses. AUO is a non-profit organisation, offering best Quality UK education at a lower tuition fees compared to other UK Universities. AUO has offered more than 100 scholarships over the years, making higher education accessible to all capable students regardless of their background or financial circumstances.

Students are strongly encouraged to attend extra - curricular activities within the local Oxford community. Their mission is to provide maximum support for their beloved student through a unique system of degree programmes, tutorials and one to one mentorship. AUO aims to build the confidence and encourage the creativity required to face new international challenges in the employment market. 



Campus information

AUO campus offers facilities such as a library, classrooms, seminar rooms, a computer resource centre with internet access, an English language laboratory, conference hall, as well as a Research Unit. AUO provides an on-campus accommodation, with canteen and home cooked meals services. Students can choose from hostel, a room in a shared house, host- family accommodation, or private housing. Volleyball and tennis courts are also available within the campus.

AUO is located on Oxford Road, it is approximately four miles (15 minutes) from Oxford city centre, the major road network connects Oxford with London and the Midlands. AUO is just two minute’s walk from the river Thames and ten minutes away from wind surfing and sailing site in Farmoor reservoir.

Accommodation is an important consideration while you are living away from home. AUO's Student Support Services office, is ready to assist you any time regarding Short term or long term arrangements for you any time.
They recommend you to make arrangements for temporary/short –term accommodation before you leave your homeland unless you have already arranged long-term accommodation for the duration of your course.

Host Family Accommodation
Host family accommodation is a high quality, competitively priced alternative to staying in a hotel or hostel. By staying with a host family you will not only learn more about British culture, but you will also have an excellent opportunity to practise your English with native speakers.
We make every effort to consider the preferences of students when selecting host families. Some students prefer to stay with an older family, other students prefer a younger family, or wish to join a family with children. Some students wish to live with a family living near to the AUO campus. Other students wish to live with a family with certain hobbies or interests, like sports or horse riding. AUO does everything possible to match students with families who have similar hobbies and interests, share the same outlook on life or offer a warm and supportive environment.

There are many websites where you can find a suitable shared accommodation close to the city centre and our university. You can search for single or double bedroom, all with shared living room, bathroom and kitchen. Internet, TV, kitchen and laundry facilities are provided in every shared house or flat. Prices may vary, depending upon the residence and the time of year.
