About Plymouth University

Plymouth University is the largest university in the South West of England, it was formed in 1862.The university was known as University of Plymouth, after the rebranding in 2011, it is known as Plymouth University. The university has campuses all over South West England, but the main campus is located in the Devon city of Plymouth.

Plymouth University is divided into various Faculties and Colleges: Faculty of Health, Faculty of Arts, Education and society, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Arts, Plymouth Business School, Peninsula College of Medicine & Dentistry, Plymouth University International College, and University of Plymouth Colleges. The university offers a diverse option of study in Architecture, Art & Design, Business & Management, Computing & Mathematics, Education & Teaching. Engineering, Environment, Health & Social work, Hospitality & Tourism, Humanities & Languages, Law, Media & Performance, Psychology & Social Sciences and etc.

Campus information

City centre campus 

Our main campus is home to the Faculties of Arts and Humanities, Health and Human Sciences, Plymouth Business School, Science and Environment, and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, as well as the University of Plymouth Students’ Union.

Marine Station and MAST House are also located within walking distance of campus.

North Plymouth campus 

Four miles north of the main campus and close to Derriford Hospital, you’ll find the purpose-built, multi-million pound Peninsula Allied Health Centre based on the University of St Mark & St John (Marjon) campus. It’s used by the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences and is where you’ll study if you’re on the Dietetic, Occupational Therapy, Operating Department Practice, Physiotherapy or Podiatry courses. 

Facilities for the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry are adjacent to Derriford Hospital at the Plymouth Science Park. Please note that there is limited visitor parking available on the Plymouth Science Park site. Please ensure you discuss parking arrangements prior to your visit. The site is permit parking only and penalty charges will be incurred if no parking arrangements have been made in advance.

We offer a great variety of halls of residence to choose from, all of which offer good, reliable wifi on the University network, cleaning of shared kitchens and bathrooms, a safe and friendly community, are close to our main campus, and near City Centre amenities.
