About University of Malaysia Perlis

University of Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) was established in May 2001 in Arau, Perlis. UniMAP is the 17th public institution of higher learning in Malaysia. The first intake in June 2002 consisted of 116 students. Currently, UniMap counts more than 13,000 students and 2,193 staff members. 

It offers 6 Diploma degrees, 37 Bachelor's degrees and 39 postgraduate programmes that lead to Master's and PhD degrees. 

UniMAP is focused on managing high quality academic programs to produce students capable of meeting the needs of stakeholders. Its graduates become professional in their area of specialization, showcasing skills related to their field and have gained abilities in both communication and ICT.

Campus information

University of Malaysia Perlis is located in Perlis, the smallest state in Malaysia in the northern part of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia where Satun and Songkhla Province of Thailand are on the northern border. Total resident counts at 230,000 comprising of Malays (majority), Chinese and Indians.

The capital of Perlis is Kangar, while the royal city is the City of Arau. Padang Besar is one of the gateways to Malaysia through Thailand, which is about 30 minutes drive from Kangar. Other than that, the main port and ferry terminal are located in Kuala Perlis which connects to the famous island of Langkawi. Perlis is approximately 2.5 hours south of Penang, while Kuala Lumpur's metropolitan city is about 6 hours by car (or 40 minutes by air).
