Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Polytechique (POLIMAS)

Established in February 1984 as Politeknik Alor Setar and they are the 3rd polytechnic under the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. POLIMAS aims at providing training and education to both SPM and SPM (V) school-leavers in order to produce quality manpower at semi-professional level to meet the needs of public and private sectors in Malaysia and offers full-time certificate and diploma courses in civil engineering, building services, town and regional planning, architecture, quantity surveying, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, information technology, accountancy, marketing and business studies. The industrial training programme (LI) is an integral part of all courses offered and practical training is compulsory.

POLIMAS provides hostels as accommodation for students on campus . The accommodation facilities include several other facilities provided are:

• Six hostel blocks ( 4 blocks for girls and 2 blocks for boys )
• administration office
• Reading room
• recreation room
• Gym and sports center
• multimedia center
• hospital room
• Islamic Center
• Cafeteria
• kiosk equipment
• laundry room

Among the main functions of the dormitory Unit is to ensure that all the facilities worked well for the use of students hostel . This unit is headed by Mr. Mohd Nasir Bin Long as Head of Student Residence

The campus is located in an area of ​​28 hectares in the district of Kubang Pasu. It was first used on March 14, 1987 and was officially opened by His Royal Highness Tuanku Abdul Halim of Kedah on March 23, 1989. Since the date of this was born the name of Politeknik Sultan Abdul Halim, named after him.
