About Port Dickson Polytechnic

Port Dickson Polytechnic was built in 1990 on a 100 acre land in Si Rusa territory. It is situated 14 kilometers from Port Dickson town and 120 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur. Si Rusa territory is one of the most famous tourist attraction because of the fresh air and white sandy beaches which is located about 30 kilometers along The Strait of Malacca.

Port Dickson Polytechnic is the sixth polytechnic built under Polytechnic Management Division, Technical Education Department, Malaysian Ministry of Education. Port Dickson Polytechnic has produced more than 26,000 graduates and placed them in various job sectors across the country.

There are 6 academic departments in Port Dickson Polytechnic namely, the departments are Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Commerce, Department of Mathematics, Science and Computer, and Department of General Studies. In the meantime, there are 13 diploma courses in Port Dickson Polytechnic.

Accommodation

Port Dickson Polytechnic (PPD) provides various facilities for students who study here. Among the facilities provided is accommodation in PPD hostels. PPD hostels only have the capacity to accommodate 1,580 which 692 places for male students (7 blocks) and 888 places for female students (9 blocks). Others have to rent around the campus.

Hostel Block

Port Dickson Polytechnic has 16 residential blocks which can accommodate a total of 1580 residents. Additionally provided two cafeterias, Mini Cooperation, Cyber Center, Islamic Center, Muslim Prayer, Reading Room, Rest Room and Recreation Room

Facilities and Equipment Base Room

Port Dickson Polytechnic provides basic facilities and equipment in these hostel rooms. Basic amenities provided in these rooms are a bed, mattress, pillow, study table, lamp, wardrobe, curtains and fans. While at every level, students share bathrooms and toilets.

 

Welfare

Welfare of hostel students is always being supervised by the fellow and hostel management. Students who are sick are sent to a clinic or hospital for treatment. During office hours, it is managed by supervisors with the help of polytechnics driver, while after office hours, it is managed by the fellows on duty or on-call fellow.

 

Keep in mind that accommodating hostel is not the right of an individual. PPD authority reserves the right to offer or not hostel accommodation to any student. Students who are disciplined and give full cooperation with the hostel management will be given priority to live in hostel.
