About Bangor University
The Bangor University was established in 1884 and today it has over 10,000 students, 23 academic Schools grouped in to 6 Colleges and over 650 teaching staff. It is located in the city of Bangor in the north of Wales.
The University's academic schools are grouped into six colleges: Arts & Humanities, Business, Social Sciences and Law, Education and Lifelong Learning, Natural Sciences, Health and Behavioural Sciences and Physical and Applied Sciences. It offers many facilities including an ocean-going research ship, nanotechnology laboratories and an environment center.
Bangor is rated top in Wales and is in the top 15 of UK universities for teaching excellence according to the Sunday Times University Guide 2012, (Sept 2011). Bangor is consistently ranked as on of the most economical places to study in the UK in various cost-of-living surveys and, according to The Independent's A-Z of Universities and Higher Education Colleges, Bangor is "one of the cheapest places in Britain" to be a student.
