About this course

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an ‘in service’ qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as a teacher/trainer in England. It may be possible for pre-service teachers/trainers (defined as those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers) to also complete this qualification. All candidates, whether pre-service or in-service must have access to 100 hours of teaching. This qualification is suitable for an individual who wishes teaching to be their full job role.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum of level 3 qualification in the subject area you wish to teach
  • Provide proof of qualifications
  • Access to 100 hours teaching practice over the full term of the course
  • Obtain a DBS Disclosure
  • Completion of a college based pre course level 4 initial assessment
  • Provide satisfactory references
  • Provide competence evidence in literacy and numeracy (teachers are expected to display competence at a minimum of level 2)
  • Interview completed by teacher training staff members in which the above evidence must be demonstrated
