About this course

This course provides all the skills and technical knowledge required to gain access to our Foundation Degree. The course will be delivered as a day release course, one day per week for two years.

The course covers all aspects of general engineering and incorporates the elements contained within the specialist Electrical, Mechanical, Operations and Manufacturing BTEC study programmes. By following a general engineering study programme, you will be positioned perfectly to commence a pathway to specialism at degree level and beyond.

Local employers and universities all agree that developing a wide range of technical skills at Level 3, rather than specialising at too early a stage in a career, helps create future engineers who are far more valuable to local companies, many of which are working in the advanced technologies sector where "multi skilling" is a vital skillset to have.

We will provide you with an understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing and Operations Engineering principles at Level 3 ('A' level standard). The course will also cover Mathematics, Computer Aided Design and 3D Printing.

Progression to the Foundation Degree is assured upon successful completion of this course.
