About this course

A brilliant opportunity to study at one of Yorkshire's most famous gardens, the course will be delivered at both Harlow Carr Gardens and Craven College in Skipton. This course is ideal for those who are interested in entering as a professional into the garden design industry. You will develop specific knowledge of all aspects of garden design including site analysis and surveying, the art and science of plant use, graphic and rendering skills, Computer Aided Design, and elements of garden history and conservation.

You will be equipped with the practical, managerial and academic skills to successfully design gardens and run a small business. You will also develop a range of transferable skills and knowledge, including business and contract management, creativity, innovation and problem solving. The course includes lectures and demonstrations, practical and creative drawing sessions, site visits, and the design of several 'real' gardens.

Entry Requirements

  • 120 UCAS points
  • Extended Diploma/A2 Level/Access to HE Diploma or equivalent
  • GCSEs English Language C or above or equivalent


  • Students without necessary qualifications but with relevant work experience are encouraged to apply for an interview
  • Students with relevant HNCs may be able to transfer credit in certain modules onto the Foundation Degree
