This is a busy and bustling campus. With millions of pounds of recent investment, it offers state-of-the art learning facilities for our students. The campus offers excellent sporting facilities, student union, on-site shop, coffee bars, including Costa and Starbucks, and refectory. The campus is located approximately two miles from the city centre, surrounded by numerous parks, playing fields and the historic village of Llandaff.
Cyncoed is home to the Cardiff School of Education and the Cardiff School of Sport.
It is a busy campus that offers on-site accommodation and a new purpose-built Campus Centre. The campus offers excellent sporting facilities, on-site shop, coffee bars and refectory. The campus also acts as the head office for the Students' and Athletics Union.
Plas Gwyn Residential Campus
Plas Gwyn, is a residential campus with en-suite accommodation.
Cardiff is an exciting, modern capital city that punches well above its weight for its size and relatively small population of around 350,000 people.
Living in Cardiff has been described as both the ‘epitome of cool’ by the renowned travel guide Lonely Planet, and as ‘one of the coolest cities in the UK’ by Rough Guides, it’s worth noting that research by MoneySuperMarket.com also put Cardiff in the top three UK cities for quality of life two years running.
We currently have nearly 1000 study bedrooms located at the Cyncoed and Plas Gwyn campuses. In addition, we also allocate just over 750 private en-suite halls to students through nomination agreements with private halls located near to the campuses.
Priority for a room in Halls of Residence is given to first year students. When allocating rooms we take into consideration the distance students live from Cardiff and the date the online Application for Halls was received.
Please note, depending on demand for halls of residence, if your home address is local, i.e. Cardiff and surrounding Local Authority areas, you will be placed on a waiting list and allocated a room near to the start of term, or once term has started.
Unfortunately due to the limited number of Halls available we are not able to accept applications from returning students (including those who have previously completed a foundation year) unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Post Graduate students should be aware that Halls are primarily occupied by first year students and that Halls may not be conducive to a Post Graduate workload. We do not have dedicated Post Graduate Halls.
Cardiff Metropolitan University have an extensive list of private houses that are available for students to rent throughout the academic year. Many of the landlords on our Accommodation List have worked closely with the university for many years and will all have been accredited through Landlord Accreditation Wales. They will also have provided the university with all legislative certification.
