About this course
This two year intensive higher education course enables you to develop awareness of live performance and media industries and learn the technical skills required to work as a specialist hair and makeup artist. You will have practical sessions and theory through business and production management. Higher National Diplomas are nationally recognised vocationally-based qualifications and offer a ‘fast track’ two-year route into the creative industries.
The course focuses on working in theatre, film and television and the fashion and photographic industry. You will study current trends makeup and hair, character theatre makeup, body painting and special effects. You will develop a professional portfolio which will provide assessment evidence and will be of high value when seeking employment.
This course is for dedicated students who want to become professional makeup artists in the creative industries.
You will need to have at least two A levels, BTEC Level 3 (MMP), Level 3 VTCT or Foundation Diploma in art and design, or an equivalent qualification in hair, makeup, and/or art. Mature students with a suitable background will also be considered. You will be required to bring a portfolio of makeup work or artwork to your interview.
