École nationale des ponts et chaussées – École des Ponts ParisTech, may be France’s oldest engineering school, but it remains young and very much in the present, as it has always been, in training engineers needs in order to meet the requirements of its citizens in key areas of day-to-day life, such as transport, housing, and urban services, and also in foundational fields like energy, the environment, climate sciences, spatial planning and sustainable development.
The history and positioning of the School ensure that its graduate engineers approach their work from a long-term and geographically embedded perspective. This means that they are especially ready to tackle the challenges of sustainable development, to operate in an uncertain world and to manage risks of all kinds.

The Meunier et Perronet residences are a two-minute walk away and essentially dedicated to housing students of the School. Thanks to agreements with the CROUS, the School has rooms reserved for its students in the Montesquieu residence just opposite the School, and inother local premises in Torcy and in Lognes. Also 2 minutes from the School, the international Cité Descartes residence houses PhD students and researchers with mobility problems.
Many students choose to live in central Paris to be close to the social life of the capital. The school is 20 minutes from the centre of Paris (Chatelet-Les Halles) via the RER A train line. The School has rooms at Maison des Mines et des Ponts et Chaussées, in the Latin Quarter and at Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, on boulevard Jourdan
Located near the School are floodlit tennis courts, a basketball court, a stadium and a gymnasium where students can enjoy sport on a daily basis and, a few minutes away by car (the sports bureau has three minibus shuttles), you can practise swimming, rowing, golf and many other sports. There is also the opportunity to take part in friendly matches and tournaments, or go jogging in the local woods or in the gardens of the château de Champs.
Student life is punctuated by parties organised by students:communal barbecues, private parties, public parties…Every year, the School Gala brings together students, alumni, families and friends.
Student life offers all the cultural vibrancy of Paris just 20 minutes away by public transport, on line A of the RER railway.
