About Shanghai University of Finance and Economics
Founded in 1917, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) is a multidimensional university which focuses on applied economics and management with theoretical economics as its basis. Its subjects include science, law, philosophy and humanities as well.
SUFE has been selected as one of the 21st Century’s 100 key universities in China. It is also a member of the national project to build outstanding universities. Located in the financial center of China, SUFE is one of the few universities in China with post-doctoral research centers in the fields of Economics and Management. It is also one of the first universities in China to offer MBA and EMBA programs.
There are 6 first level and 47 second level doctoral programs, 6 first level and 79 second level master programs and 37 undergraduate programs. SUFE has 1,019 staff, of which 541 are professors or associate professors. There are 13,537 full-time students including 6,322 master and PhD students as well as 1,022 international students from 92 different countries.
The International Cultural Exchange School (ICES) of SUFE was founded in October 2001 and is devoted to the education of international students and includes students who have come to study in China either on scholarship or self-funded. Different kinds of degree and non-degree programs are offered for all international students. The main focus on Chinese language training courses is the use of Chinese in business settings.
