Campus information

VIU operates four campuses including a main campus in Nanaimo and regional campuses in Duncan, Powell River and Parksville•Qualicum. VIU is also the proud owner of Milner Gardens and Woodlands in Qualicum Beach, recently named one of the top 10 public gardens in Canada.

  • Modern Double Room

The Modern Doubles Room style is found in the 20 bedroom townhouses and the apartments.  Townhouses and apartments have shared kitchens and lounges.  The rooms are double occupancy with a semi private bathroom; each room has two single beds which share a bathroom with student(s) of the same gender.  Modern Double Rooms are furnished with two long twin beds, two wardrobes, two desks and two chairs.   Modern doubles are another great way to begin your university experience!

  • Modern Single Room

Modern Single rooms are found in the 20 bedroom townhouses and apartments.  Townhouses and apartments have shared kitchens and lounges.  The rooms are single occupancy with a semi private bathroom; each room is a single room that shares a bathroom with student(s) of the same gender.  Traditional rooms are furnished with an extra long twin bed, wardrobe, desk and chair.   Modern singles are typically for returning students who have had the opportunity to establish friendships and settle into the University experience.  Often these buildings have connected communities that come together to celebrate but also appreciate the opportunity to focus on academics.

  • Traditional Room

​Traditional rooms are found in Arbutus and Alder Houses.  Both buildings that house the traditional rooms have three floors with common kitchens and lounges that are shared by the residents of each floor.  The rooms are single occupancy with a semi private bathroom; each room is a single room that shares a bathroom with another student of the same gender.  Traditional rooms are furnished with an extra-long twin bed, wardrobe, desk and chair.  With a vibrant mix of students from all program areas and from around the world, the traditional buildings are a great place to start your university experience.
