Entry Requirements

  • CIT may request a short interview to ascertain your suitability for this program, your choice of electives and any eligibility for recognition. Recognition of prior learning may reduce your study load. 
  • If you have not completed a Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) or equivalent, we advise you to complete the Statement of Attainment in Building and Construction Introduction.
  • If you have completed a Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) or equivalent, or have relevant work experience and/or are currently employed in a relevant field in the construction industry with access to a building site you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning.

  • Prepare and evaluate tender documentation
  • Select and manage building and construction contractors
  • Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for medium rise building projects
  • Monitor costing systems on medium rise building and construction projects
  • Supervise the planning of on-site medium-rise building or construction work
  • Apply structural principles to the construction of medium rise buildings
