General Visa requirement in Germany

The standard student visa for Germany, allows the applicant to study in Germany for the duration of their course. To be eligible, students must have already been accepted by a German university and received their admission letter. A range of documentation is needed to support German student visa applications, including proof of university admission, evidence of funds to support their stay, and proof of German language skills.

Important Documents

• Two fully completed application forms and required declaration in duplicate
• Two passport photographs
• Valid national passport and one copy
• Additional for non-US citizens: original of valid US alien registration card or valid US resident visa
   (type A, E, F, G, H, I, J, L, O, R) and one copy
• Letter of acceptance of a German university/language school/college and one copy
• Evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself while living in Germany and one copy

Your visa application should describe the intentions of your stay in detail, for example, "language course followed by study at the Technical University". In addition, two important documents should be included:

Evidence of the reason for residence, namely a confirmation of either your application to a language course having at least 24 lessons per week, or one from your university

Evidence of adequate finances for the stay, The German authorities assume that at least 583 Euros per month will be needed.
