About this course

This programme is offered at the Cyberjaya Campus under the Faculty of Computing and Informatics. 

Multimedia University is committed to produce and train quality IT workers to help the country to propel into the information age. To accelerate this production and meet the unprecedented demand for multimedia and IT professionals, Multimedia University offers a Master’s degree in Computer Science (M.CS) specializing in Software Engineering and Software Architecture. This course is targeted at IT and computer science graduates and aims to produce qualified IT professionals who specialize in software engineering and software architecture. The course is founded on well-balanced components of advanced theoretical concepts, current industrial practice and project-management skills.
The world is moving towards a knowledge economy where information grows at a fast speed. The number of large-scale software projects that require well-trained personnel to design and manage is increasing. This creates a need to train qualified professionals to fulfill this demand. Our objectives are to produce:

  • Software professionals who are well-versed in advanced theories and practices in the architecture and engineering of large-scale and long-term software systems.
  • Leaders, critical thinkers and technopreneurs in IT for knowledge economy.

Entry Requirements


  • A Bachelor's Degree with Honours or CGPA of 2.00 and above in a related field from MMU or equivalent from another recognised University; or
  • Any other academic qualifications equivalent to the one stated above as approved by the senate.


  • A minimum overall TOEFL score of 580 (paper based) or 237 (computer based) or 92 (internet based) ; or
  • A minimum IELTS (academic) overall band score of 6.5; or
  • A credit in 1119 English Examination; or
  • A minimum score of 580 in Multimedia University's English Language Proficiency Test; or
  • A minimum MUET overall band score of 4; or
  • Any other qualification which is of equivalent level as determined by the Senate of the University.
