The Foundation Chancellor of Sunway University College and Chairman of the Sunway Group, YBhg Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Jeffrey Cheah, AO placed the Sunway Education Group into a Trust in 1997 under the eminent chairmanship of the late YABhg Tun Omar Ong Yoke Lin. The auspicious occasion was witnessed by YB Dato' Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, the then Minister of Education. In March 2010, the Sunway Education Trust was replaced by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation. Again, we had the honour of YAB Dato' Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, to witness the launch of the Foundation in the presence of the Foundation's Royal Patron, H.R.H.Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, The Sultan of Selangor.

With the aim of extending its world-class academic excellence and outside the Klang Valley, Sunway University College has set up its branch campus Sunway College Ipoh in 2003 located in a progressive integrated resort township in Tambun, Ipoh City.

Sunway College Ipoh offers good learning facilities including a Computer Laboratory and centres for Learning Resources, Career Placement and Student Recreation. Assistance and guidance is also offered through the Student Affairs and Administration departments. Facilities offered at Sunway College Ipoh include:

Sunway College Ipoh's Student Hostel offers affordable and comfortable accommodation options, all within close proximity to the College. It is an ideal base for Students who are leaving home for the first time and are new to Ipoh. A list of the items and facilities offered include:

• Room: Individual Beds for each Student, Cupboard with Lock, Study Table (All in Living Hall except Single Room)
• Unit: Sofa Set, Dining Area, Fridge, Washing Machine, Kitchen Stove, Wi-Fi Connectivity
• General: 24 hours Security Service, Swimming Pool, Basketball Court

The accommodation fee for students are as follows:

• Triple-Sharing (with Attached Bathroom): RM900
• Twin-Sharing: RM900
• Single Room: RM1,500
