About this course
Most structures like bridges and railways and all domestic, electrical and industrial products, are the result of the work of engineers. Also included are aircraft and motor vehicles. They are the work of designers and production engineers. They use science, mathematics, computers and many other special techniques to achieve these results. This course aims to provide opportunities for you to develop some of the skills, knowledge and understanding which you will need for the first steps towards a career in engineering.
You should have:
at least four GCSEs at grade D which should include maths, English and double science at a minimum of grade D.
a pass in all the units of a level 1 diploma in an appropriate subject with maths and English at a minimum of grade D.
You will need a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 for entry on to most study programmes (this will rise to 6.0 for subjects with heavy reading and writing components).
