About Canterbury College

Canterbury College was established in 1947 and is now one of the largest Further and Higher Education Colleges in the South East.

We've created an exciting environment where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can meet, learn and grow. Our excellent academic and student support, combined with a state-of-the-art campus, will help you to achieve your ambitions.

This website contains the main range of courses offered at our Canterbury and Swale campuses. These have been developed in association with local businesses and partner universities to prepare you for success in Higher Education or your chosen career.

We all want Canterbury College to be a safe and secure place for everyone to work and learn together, and we have a positive approach to Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity.

For more information on courses and choices at the most exciting East Kent College, please contact the Student Information Centre.

Our students have won national design competitions with London2012, Paperchase and KEiBA (the Kent Excellence in Business Awards). They have received Construction Skills Awards and WorldSkills UK medals in Dance, IT, Graphic Design, Music, and Public Services.

Canterbury College students were the first in Kent to broadcast a regular radio show on the new-look 'KMFM extra' radio station.

Accommodation

Urban Student Life – Canterbury Student Village

This is only available to students aged 18 or over.

Please note that this accommodation is organised through Urban Student Life (USL) rather than Canterbury College. Places fill up fast and we cannot guarantee you a room so make sure you book early.

A brand new, purpose built complex was opened in 2014/15 offering accommodation to students at any of Canterbury’s Universities and Colleges. It is comprised of 336 units spread across three separate blocks. You have the option of either an en-suite cluster room (with a shared kitchen) or a studio flat. It combines the benefits of living in a hotel with the freedom of living in a student community and opens up the possibilities of discounted gym membership, driving lessons, bicycles and much more.

Short-term stays are also possible for the summer period. Contact USL directly for more information.

For all these options, you will also be required to pay a deposit upfront to guarantee your place. You can pay this using a PayPal account or Direct Bank Transfer from overseas. Part of this payment will be refunded to you at the end of your contract, provided you leave the facilities as you found them.

Student Lettings Agency – Luxury Living

This is only available to students aged 18 or over.

Please note: this accommodation is organised through Student Lettings Agency (SLA) rather than Canterbury College. Places fill up fast and we cannot guarantee you a room so make sure you book early.

SLA is a respected and established agency based in Canterbury looking after the needs of students. They have a selection of flats and houses available where you can live alone or with other students. The properties are fully furnished and you they offer ensuite double bedrooms as standard in their Luxury Living properties.

Your rent will include all utility bills, internet and contents insurance, something you don’t usually get from an estate agent. You will only have a small booking fee to pay – no deposit, admin fee or inventory fee.

Home Stays

This is the only option we are able to offer students under the age of 18.

We can organise a Home Stay for you if you’d like to live within a family unit. This is a great opportunity to experience British family life and practice your English.

You will have your own room within the house and will be offered some meals and access to the main areas of the home. All bills, excluding telephone, will be included in the weekly rate. You can sign up for a home stay for any length of time, from a few weeks to the duration of your studies. Some students prefer to start in a host family as a good introduction to Canterbury and British life before finding alternative accommodation elsewhere.
