About School of Graduate Studies Universiti Putra Malaysia

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) is a service and administrative centre established to assist postgraduate students in the processes involved from their registration at UPM up to the completion of their studies. SGS is the core support system which helps ease and enhance the postgraduate experience for UPM students, and plays a crucial role in fostering the relationship between UPM and its graduates. SGS is represented by a community of academic and support staff who are passionate about continually building on their strengths to help create an environment that is conducive to the overall postgraduate experience. 

SGS has become one of the leading graduate schools in the country with about 12,000 postgraduate students currently studying at UPM’s 16 faculties and 9 institutes. The School has grown considerably since its beginnings as a Graduate School Office, and is supporting 265 fields of study under the Masters and PhD programmes. The School's international status can be seen in the number of international students who have chosen UPM as their preferred university for postgraduate education and research. Currently, there are students from more than 80 countries around the world which attests to the success in making UPM a university of international standing, in line with the university’s vision.

UPM Airport Pickup Service
During registration week, UPM will provide students with an airport pickup service within a designated time and period. Students interested in this service need to fill out the Airport Pickup Service Request Form and send it back to the International Division of UPM. 

Airport to hotel/UPM 
The easiest way to travel directly UPM from the airport is by hiring a taxi. Coupons can be purchased at the taxi service counter located inside the arrival hall at all terminals. The regular fare from the airport to Putrajaya or Serdang is around RM60-80 for a budget taxi for the journey 45-60 minute journey.
Airport to Putrajaya ERL Station 
Students can travel to Putrajaya by the KLIA Transit train. Tickets are available at the KLIA Transit counter at the main terminal for RM6.20. This is the fastest and most convenient way to reach Putrajaya. Upon arrival at the Putrajaya or Cyberjaya stations, students may take a taxi to UPM or your hotel, which costs upwards of RM20. 
Airport to KL Sentral 
From KLIA, students can travel to the Kuala Lumpur city centre via the KLIA Ekspres train. The journey takes only 28 minutes and costs RM35. Another alternative to reach KL Sentral from KLIA is by bus, using the Airport Coach service. The fare is RM 10 and takes around one hour. From LCCT, students can travel to Kuala Lumpur by KLIA Transit at a frequency of every 30 minutes. The fare is RM12.50 for both the shuttle and KLIA transit train services. Another alternative to reach KL Sentral from LCCT is by bus, using the Skybus service. The fare is RM9, and takes around one hour. 

KL Sentral to Serdang Station 
From KL Sentral, students can take the KTM Komuter Train to reach the Serdang station. The fare is RM 1.70, and takes around 25 minutes. From the Serdang KTM station, students may take a taxi to UPM, which costs around RM 11 for the 10-minute journey. 


There are 14 residential colleges on campus for undergraduates and postgraduates. These residential colleges are the cheapes and most convenient option available to students.

Affordable off-campus accomodation can be found in the surrounding areas of the University (Sri Serdang, Seri Kembangan, or Balakong).

Condominiums served by the Universiti Putra Malaysia bus route include Sky Villa, South City and Juta Mines.
