With everything going on around you, it feels like you have no time to prepare an entire healthy meal from scratch. But, making your own meals doesn’t have to be an ordeal. There are many food blogs and books targeted specifically towards students cooking in dorms with limited space, time and money. With everything from easy, natural cold remedies to delicious, cheap, no-frills food, there should be no excuse to pig out on junk food every night! Here are a few examples to highlight the range of easy recipes available to cook up on a weeknight.
Cilantro Lime Rice

The best part of this rice dish is it’s simplicity. It requires only 5 ingredients (and water) and only 40 minutes to make. It could be a great side dish, or a main dish with some protein added. Check out this blog for more simple, tasty recipes on a budget. Every recipe comes with a total cost per recipe as well as per serving.
Oatmeal Nutella Mug Cake
This oatmeal nutella mug cake tastes just like a giant oatmeal cookie, but with Nutella! The oats add a nutritious twist to this wonderfully sinful recipe. This blog is mainly run off of submissions, so it is a great resource to find recipes that have been tried and tested by other students. Check it out for more user-friendly recipes from a large variety of cuisines that cater to various dietary restrictions as well.
Or, if you feel like fancying it up for a special occasion, check out this tumblr. It has countless recipes ranging from breakfasts and desserts to drinks and vegetarian food. While these recipes may be more time consuming and/or complicated, they are great for a special occasion!
