About

This degree programme is designed to equip students with in-depth understanding of economic behaviour and an extensive knowledge of the financial sector, drawing upon the many insights of modern theories in economics and finance.

Graduates from this degree programme will ultimately acquire relevant insight and capabilities that enable them to hold positions of great responsibility in the economic and financial system, financial institutions, international organisations, supervisory authorities and central banks.

Professional Accreditation: 

  • Graduates will be provided with a solid foundation to pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme. 
  • Graduates will be eligible for exemptions from Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC) and Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM). * subject to elective taken.
  • This programme is recognised by CMT Association. 

 

Additional Accreditation by Bloomberg: All students will get an additional Bloomberg Certification (BMC) upon completion of Portfolio Management Module.

SPM / O-Level with Pre-U / Foundation

Pass SPM / O-Level or equivalent with 5 credits (including a Pass in Mathematics and English) for entry with pre-university/ foundation qualification (Except for UEC)

SPM / O-Level with Diploma

Pass SPM / O-Level or equivalent with 3 credits (including a Pass in Mathematics and English) for entry with Diploma qualification.

- Pass Business Foundation from any other HEI

- HSC (Yr 12), New South Wales with min. average 60% in 5 subjects

- Pass Foundation (in other field) from other institutions recognised by MoHE

- Pass DIB or Diploma in other field from other institutions recognised by MoHE

- Other equivalent qualification recognised by Malaysian Government

Note: Candidates without a pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level or its equivalent may be admitted if the STPM / Matriculation / Foundation / Diploma programme contains subjects in Mathematics and English that are equivalent and achieved higher at SPM level.

UNIVERSITY CORE

The Ministry of Education (MOE) requires all students to take Mata Pelajaran Umum (MPU) (i.e. General Studies) which is categorised under U1, U2, U3 and U4 within the duration of their studies. U1 modules are prescribed by MOE whereas U2, U3 and U4 modules are from a list of University Core Modules (UCM) prescribed as per the Programme Guide.

The Complementary Studies component provides student the flexibility to study modules in a related or unrelated field from the same or different school to complement the Primary Major. It may be completed in a form of free electives, an extension, minors or a second major that typically requires at least one (1) semester of student learning time.
