Entry Requirements

  • GCSE: For all applicants, a minimum of five subjects at grade C or above, or Grade 4 under newly reformed GCSE grading, to include English Language, Mathematics and either Double Science or Biology and Physics, or equivalent. Please note the University does not accept Level 2 Key Skills, Functional Skills or Certificates in Adult Numeracy and Literacy as suitable alternatives to GCSEs.
  • A-level subjects: Grade C or above in Biology, Human Biology or PE. Points from A-Level General Studies and AS-Level subjects (not taken onto full A-Level) can be included towards overall tariff. You must have a minimum of two A-Levels.
  • Specific subjects: If you do not have Biology/Human Biology/PE, you may be called to interview but will require strong science subjects.
  • Relevant subjects: PE, Biology, Physiology, Sports Sciences, Psychology, Maths and Chemistry.
  • EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma: To include six units in Biology, Human Biology or PE. Examples of BTEC units that meet our Biology/PE requirement include: Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise Science, Sports Nutrition, Sports Injuries, Sports and Exercise Massage, Fitness Training and Programming, Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport, The Physiology of Fitness, Psychology of Sports Performance and Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology.

English Language Requirement:

  • If your first language is not English, you should have a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 overall with 6.5 in each section of the examination. 

Curriculum

Year one

The modules at this level are designed to provide a sound foundation in the basic sciences of anatomy, biomechanics and human physiology. You will also be introduced to the pathology, assessment and management related to sport rehabilitation. These modules are delivered at the Glenside Campus and the Centre for Sport at the main campus at Frenchay.

Practical sessions involving practice of professional skills, using fellow students as models, will ensure you are prepared for the professional practice components of the degree.

  • Management of Soft Tissue Injury 1
  • Sports Injury: Aetiology and Pathology

Year two

Building upon Year one modules, this level integrates academic studies and professional practice. The focus is on clinical assessment, advancing skills in the management of sporting injury and, evidence-based practice and developing autonomous practitioners that are reflective about their clinical practice experiences. The academic components of modules are delivered at Glenside Campus, Bristol.

Final year

Modules aim to broaden your knowledge of the field of sport rehabilitation beyond that of clinical practice.
