About Zaytuna College

Zaytuna College is a unique institution in Islamic higher education in America and is the fruit of a pioneering effort to create an authentic Islamic education institution in this country. Moreover, it is devoted to the liberal arts, which lie at the heart of education on the university level. Its success in the goal it has set before itself marks a very important step in the preservation of Islamic thought and culture in the context of American society

Campus information

The academic campus of Zaytuna College is located at 2515 Hillegass Avenue in Berkeley, which houses the classrooms; faculty offices; library (also used as a prayer area); academic support center; the Offices of Student Life and Experiential Learning, Student Activities, and Student Services; and the Counseling Center. Dormitories for students are located within walking distance of this campus.

Set on sparkling San Francisco Bay, Berkeley is a spirited city that will surprise and delight those who still see it as the counter-culture center of the Sixties. Free speech and flower power are forever in the city’s “DNA,” but Berkeley has evolved into a culinary and cultural destination with a “green” soul.

Berkeley is more than a vibrant Northern California destination. It is also home the park-like UC Berkeley Campus that rises from Downtown Berkeley, with topographical drama, into a forested foothill range. Acres its 18 square miles, Berkeley offers a cultural and culinary bounty, visual and performing arts great local shops and restaurants, and outdoor recreation.
