About this course
The Accounting Program leading to an Associate in Applied Science Degree is designed to provide students with a realistic and practical foundation in general accounting practices. Graduates will have mastered a wide variety of accounting functions essential to modern business and non-profit offices.
The graduate will possess knowledge of accounting functions, automated systems, as well as an understanding of overall business processes. The skills gained in the program prepare individuals for initial entry into, and advancement within, the accounting departments of organizations of any size.
Graduates are also prepared for transfer to 4-year colleges or universities should they seek a CPA career track. Areas of study in addition to the general education requirements include accounting practices, quality customer service, budgeting, fund accounting, human resource management and supervision, business finance, and computer applications.
