About this course

This 18-month aircraft maintenance program meets the requirements for students to take the exam for the Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration. This certificate authorizes the holder to approve aircraft that has undergone inspection or maintenance “for return to service.” This curriculum is approved by the FAA. Aircraft mechanics that graduate from this program are in high demand not only for aviation jobs, but also in other fields that require a high degree of mechanical knowledge. Located at the National Center for Aviation Training, WATC’s aviation maintenance technician program offers a state-of-the-art facility with instructors offering more than 300 combined years of industry expertise working at Cessna, Boeing, Learjet, Beechcraft, Spirit AeroSystems and other top aerospace companies located in Wichita, KS. Known for decades as the Air Capital of the World, Wichita is one of five global aviation clusters in the United States and has many opportunities for those seeking aircraft jobs after mechanic school.
