About this course

Our two-year Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) can prepare you to gain licensure as a K-12 classroom teacher.

Available at our campus locations throughout Portland and Vancouver, our teaching degree is suitable for anyone who wants:

  • A thorough grounding in theories of human development and learning;
  • Hands-on instructional and classroom management skills;
  • A bachelor’s completion program designed around the needs of working adults;
  • A program that emphasizes personal integrity within the context of Christian moral principles.

Successful Masters Program MAT degree graduates will be eligible for an Initial 1 Teaching License with one or more of the following authorizations: Early Childhood (EC), Elementary (EL), Middle-Level (ML), and/or High School (HS). Candidates must also choose an endorsement area. We support Advanced Math, Biology, Language Arts, Music, Multiple Subjects (EC/EL), Physical Education, and Social Studies.

Entry Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, supported by official transcripts;
  • Pre-requisite coursework in human development and learning theory;
  • A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0;
  • At least two years of full-time work experience.
