Degree Requirements

  • "C-" or higher in all courses required by the Smith School of Business. (Effective Fall 2012)
  • Overall combined 2.000 GPA in Smith required courses. (Effective Fall 2012)
  • 50% of the required BMGT credit hours must be completed at the University of Maryland, College Park
  • 45 credit hours required in BMGT coursework
  • 58 credit hours required in Upper Level courses (effective Spring 2014)
  • Final 30 credit hours of degree earned at the University of Maryland, College Park
  • Minimum cumulative 2.000 grade point average
  • Minimum of 60 credit hours earned at a 4-year school
  • 120 total credit hours

Non-native English Speakers

  • Provide a verification of your proficiency in English.
  • Have an official report of your scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the appropriate application date. 

Non-U.S. Academic Credentials - Freshman

  • If you have non-U.S. academic credentials, provide all academic records—secondary and college—in the original language with a certified English translation.
  • If you attended secondary school outside of the United States, you must provide, where appropriate, official results and certificate of completion from a national secondary school examination (such as the GCSE or Baccalaureate).
