Curriculum

Brief Program/Department Overview: The Master of Science in biology degree provides an introduction to research and can serve as the starting point for a number of career paths in teaching, research, government, and industry. There is both a thesis and non-thesis track. The thesis track has an emphasis on research and is designed for students who may wish to eventually pursue a doctorate or a career in research. The non-thesis track emphasizes course work and may be more appropriate for students viewing the master's as a terminal degree. Much of the research effort in the Department of Biology is encompassed by the general areas of Marine Biology, Ecology and Evolution, and Cell and Molecular Biology
