About University of California, Irvine

The University of California, Irvine (also known as UCI or UC Irvine) is a public research university located in Irvine, California, in the United States. It is one of the ten campuses of the University of California (UC) system, the fifth-largest UC campus.

UC Irvine's academic units are referred to as Schools. There are eight undergraduate Schools, two graduate Schools, one Department, and one field of Interdisciplinary Studies. UC Irvine offered bachelor's degree programs in 84 undergraduate majors and 64 minors and 98 advanced degree programs campus-wide: 51 master's programs, 44 Ph.D. programs, and the M.D., J.D., and Ed.D. programs. It enrolls more than 28,000 students, 1,100 faculty members and 9,000 staff.

Campus information

The university provides several libraries for the students including Jack Langson Library, Francisco J. Ayala Science Library, Grunigen Medical Library, Libraries Gateway Centre, and Law Library.

Gateway Study Center serves formerly as a cafeteria and student center, it is now a dual-use computer lab and study area which is open nearly 24 hours. The UCI Student Center offers a large number of study areas, auditoriums, and two food courts and therefore is one of the most popular places to study on campus. UC Irvine also has a number of computer labs that serve as study centers.

UC Irvine has a number of residential options for students interested in living on campus. The on-campus housing communities for undergraduates are: Mesa Court, Middle Earth, Campus Village, Arroyo Vista, Vista Del Campo, and VDC Norte. Graduate students are able to live on campus in Palo Verde, Verano Place, Vista Del Campo, and VDC Norte.
