About St. Catherine University

St. Catherine University is committed to the liberal arts as the broad base of learning and to the pursuit of excellence for its students. The Reflective Woman (TRW) and Global Search for Justice (GSJ) connect students to the mission and vision of St. Catherine, building community through active, student-centered learning and calling students to examine their education with great intention, both as they embark upon it and as it comes to a close.

TRW, intended as a gateway common experience to critical inquiry for all entering students, is normally completed in a student's first term at the College. GSJ, the capstone senior level course, challenges students to apply the lessons of college education to issues of justice throughout the world. Undergraduates also develop foundational knowledge for a lifetime of fitness and wellness in the required Women's Fitness and Wellness course that integrates current scientific research with practical application.

With the liberal arts integrated throughout every program, from associate to graduate level, women and men who graduate from St. Kate's are prepared for a world in which respect for diverse voices and perspectives, critical thinking and a desire and ability to work toward social change are crucial.

Dew Drop Bop

Cotton candy, mini donuts and the occasional ferris wheel — that's how we celebrate the last day of class each spring. Students and friends gather on campus to enjoy an afternoon of carnival-themed fun with the St. Kate's community.

On the catwalk you find funk, style and eco-conscious designs. Our students steal the show at the annual Katwalk fashion show, displaying the talents of juniors and seniors studying apparel design and fashion merchandising.

International Potluck

This annual potluck is a festive opportunity to take a close-up look at the cultures that comprise St. Catherine University. Through an array of food, music, dance and dress we explore the cultural traditions that make us a unique student body.

Charity Ball

Students love this chance to dress up, grab a date and dance the night way. Between dance lessons, fun with friends and raising money for charity, this annual ball lives on through the years.

Women of Substance series

Bringing influential and inspirational women to the University through artistic performances, lectures and concerts. Decades old, this series has brought notable artists and leaders such as Norah Jones, Maya Angelou and former Secretary of State Madeliene Albright.

Swing dancing

Students literally flip for this swingsational activity. Swing dance lessons are provided for free and many students manage to get their wits about them and venture out to dance events in the Twin Cities area.

Among your classmates, there might be a midweek cookie-decorating party, a Cinco de Mayo celebration, a talent show, the building of an impromptu snowman or a trip to the Mall of America (the nation's largest).

The St. Paul campus is 5 miles from downtown St. Paul, 7 miles from downtown Minneapolis and sits on 110 wooded acres.

St. Catherine University offers several different types of living spaces that provide comfortable and supportive communities that encourage learning outside of the classroom. First year students typically live in residence halls, which are comprised of mostly standard doubles. Upper class students have options that vary from traditional singles, doubles, and triples to suites and apartments.
