New York University has grown into one of the nation's leading institutions of higher education, a dynamic and prominent research university that is "in and of the city" with an academic presence that spans the globe.
Universities are among the most enduring of human institutions. They owe their longevity, in part, to their ability to reflect upon long range goals and their tradition of carefully and successfully balancing present considerations with future concerns.
As part of its long-range planning, NYU has embarked on a series of undertakings that reflect its priorities as an institution: expanding its arts and science core, creating the first true global network university, and outlining a vision to match its academic aspirations to its physical infrastructure over the next two-plus decades.
NYU's main campus is located at Greenwich Village in Lower Manhattan with institutes and centers on the Upper East Side, academic buildings and dorms down on Wall Street, and the Brooklyn campus located at MetroTech Center in Downtown Brooklyn.
The Office of Residential Life and Housing Services is responsible for the overall administration and operation of NYU’s 23 residence halls, home to approximately 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students during the academic year and summer session. Our office works in coordination with many departments and student groups to provide and maintain comfortable, safe and secure living environments for New York University residents.
