Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) was established in 1826 as the Maryland Institute for the Promotion of the Mechanic Arts. The college is a private art and design college located in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. MICA is one of the first and oldest art colleges in the United States. MICA is a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD), and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

MICA offers pre-college programs, post-baccalaureate programs, continuing studies, Bachelor programs, Masters programs, and weekend young peoples' studio art classes. The college offers 14 studio majors, two liberal arts majors, 13 studio concentrations, six liberal arts minors, as well as a range of dual degree and 5th year capstone masters programs, allowing students to customize a program of study specifically geared to their interests and long-term plans.

In 2008 U.S. News and World Report, MICA was ranked #2 in the nation among fine arts programs, its Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design program tied for #6 among graduate schools for Graphic Design. MICA also listed as one of the 25 best U.S. design schools by ID magazine.
