Within its first ten years, Goodwin College garnered an impressive list of milestones, including the development of one of Connecticut’s leading nursing programs, approval to offer bachelor’s degrees, and the construction of a new campus on the Connecticut River in East Hartford. That campus, built on a remediated brownfield, is often cited as the standard for smart growth and has won a host of design and environmental awards, including Project of the Year from the Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA), the leading economic development organization in the northeast.
All the while, Goodwin has made a priority of catering to a student population that is often underserved in the state’s higher education system. Of over 3,000 students, 43% are first-generation college students, and the student body reflects the diversity of the Hartford metropolitan area. The college’s career-focused programs lead to strong employment outcomes for its graduates.
Goodwin's campus along the Connecticut River invites students to gather both on campus and outside the classroom. Our students organize community activities, study together on our campus green and in our two-story library, and enjoy a break in the student lounge and on the third floor outdoor patio.
