About George Fox University

George Fox is Oregon's nationally recognized Christian university, providing students with personal attention, global opportunities to learn and serve, and a supportive community that encourages academic rigor and spiritual growth.

George Fox is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The school consistently earns third-party recognition from publications such as Forbes and U.S. News & World Report, which annually rank it among the nation's top Christian colleges.

In keeping with our mission of Christian higher education, all employees – faculty, administration and staff – are committed Christians. More than 3,900 students attend classes on the university’s residential campus in Newberg, at its Portland and Salem centers, and at other teaching sites in Oregon.

Campus information

Our undergraduate campus is a 108-acre, tree-shaded property in the city of Newberg. Experience a Christian university in our natural setting. After class, you can study or enjoy a relaxing time with friends on our landscaped grounds. Chat with classmates in the rose garden, read a book in Centennial Tower’s shade or escape for a stroll through the lush Hess Creek Canyon.

The campus has expanded in recent years to include 70 buildings. The most recent expansion is the 2006 purchase of an adjacent eight acres formerly occupied by Providence Newberg Hospital. A new athletic field facility, the Austin Sports Complex, is a 24-acre tract north of the campus that serves as home to our soccer and lacrosse teams.

Our facilities include science, engineering and nursing labs equipped with the latest equipment and software; renovated classrooms; the 1,150-seat Bauman Auditorium, which has such a high sound quality that the Portland Symphony records here; and excellent athletic facilities, including the newly built Stoffer Family Stadium/Duke Athletic Center, home to our football and track programs.

George Fox is ideally situated in the heart of the beautiful Willamette Valley in Newberg, rated among the top five "safest cities in Oregon" by SafeWise, a community-focused safety organization. We are just 23 miles south of Portland, Oregon’s largest city and cultural center.

Housing Selection occurs annually in mid-March for returning students who plan to live on campus..

In order to participate in Housing Selection, each student needs to pay a $150 Housing Deposit to Student Financial Services. Additional information about the deposit will be posted in The Daily Bruin and under the Housing Deposit section.
