About Delaware College of Art and Design

DCAD's mission is to educate talented and dedicated students to become art makers, idea generators, problem solvers, and visual communicators who can redefine the way we perceive and experience the world around us. It also serves as a visible stakeholder, cultural anchor, and catalyst for the revitalization of downtown Wilmington.

Campus information

Delaware College of Art and Design is located in an energetic and exciting downtown area of Wilmington. To maintain a safe and secure campus and community, DCAD works closely with the Wilmington Police Department and Downtown Visions, a non-profit group dedicated to keeping Wilmington clean and safe.

Driving Instructions From Philadelphia and Points North: Take I-95 South to the second Delaware Avenue/Route 52 exit (Exit 7A). After exit ramp, go straight through light (placing you on 11th Street) to second light (junction of 11th Street and Delaware Avenue). Continue straight, following 11th Street, through six lights to King Street. Turn right onto King Street. Continue to Fifth Street (New Castle County Courthouse will be on your left) and turn right onto Fifth. Take first right onto Market Street. DCAD is located at 600 N. Market Street on the corner of Sixth and Markets streets. Metered parking is available on the surrounding streets and in several parking structures close by.

Accommodation

Both The Saville and 707 N. King St. residence halls are monitored and utilize an exterior door lock system. Building-specific access cards are needed to gain access to the buildings and ultimately, each student’s room. Smoke detectors and sprinkler systems can be found in each room. A member of the DCAD Student Services staff lives in each building and a student Resident Assistant lives on each floor.
