About Carnegie Mellon University

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is a private, global research institution that was first established in 1900 in an urban area in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With a total undergraduate enrollment of 6,673, more than 105,255 alumni, and 5,000 faculties and staff, it has a relatively large student body and this population size has shown a steady rise over the years. This institution applies the semester-based academic calendar. CMU has seven schools and colleges under its wings, including Carnegie Institute of Technology, College of Fine Arts, Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Heinz College, Mellon College of Science, School of Computer Science and the Tepper School of Business.

Furthermore, in the latest 2018 edition of Best Colleges, Carnegie Mellon University’s ranking is National Universities 25th rank. As of present, 2017-18, its tuition and fees are RM21,0976.79 ($53,910).

CMU also offers its students with meals and entertainment options as well as opportunities to participate in professional sports teams including the Penguins (hockey), Steelers (football), and Pirates (baseball). As for accommodation, first-year students are required to reside on campus and for other students, the university guarantees housing options for all four years of their studies. With that said, most students at CMU prefer to live on campus for many good reasons. In one way or another, some 20 percent of the student population at CMU is involved with Greek life, with more than 20 fraternities and sororities to colour students life outside of the classrooms.
