About this course

The Associate in Engineering (AE) degree is for students seeking to complete a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering (BSE) at one of five, senior institutions.  East Carolina University, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina State, UNC-Charlotte and Western Carolina University have partnered with the North Carolina Community College System to offer this specialized degree program.

The degree includes general education courses, including English, humanities and fine arts, science, and social behavioral sciences. and. In addition, the degree includes a heavy emphasis on mathematics. The AE to BSE enables students who have graduated from North Carolina community college AE programs to complete a common list of courses that meet the entrance requirements at all of the BSE programs at select constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina.

However, because engineering program admissions are competitive, no student is guaranteed admission to an engineering program just as no student at the four year school is guaranteed admission.
