About this course
The discipline of dental hygiene is the science and practice of the recognition, treatment, and prevention of oral diseases - within the scope of the dental hygiene practice. The methods of preventing oral disease and promoting wellness are provided by the dental hygienist in collaboration with the health care team in a variety of settings.
Upon satisfactory completion of the two-year program, a student receives an Associate in Applied Science degree from Blinn College. The student is eligible to apply to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination and a regional/state clinical board examination. Licensure is based upon successful completion of the National Board Examination, the regional or state clinical board examination, and a state jurisprudence examination.
