About Alma College

Alma College was founded in 1886, the college is a private, four-year, liberal arts college that is located in Alma, Michigan, United States. It is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Alma College offers four degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music, and Bachelor of Science, over 28 majors. Students are encouraged to participate in the study abroad and service learning in order to enhance the classroom learning.

In 2005, Alma College was one of the schools in the United States selected as the "College with a Conscience: 81 Great Schools with Outstanding Community Involvement" by The Princeton Review and Campus Compact.

Alma College is located in the center of Michigan's lower peninsula. It is 50 miles north of Lansing, and approximately  two and one-half hours northwest of Detroit. Alma College is a block and a half west of downtown Alma, and only within two hours of Michigan's ski areas and beaches.


The education students acquire from the social and interpersonal experiences of residential life plays a vital role in their holistic development as engaged, critically-thinking, responsible and inquiring human beings.
