Eligibility Requirements

If you desire to study Mass Communication and Media in the United States, there are a few things you should be aware of in order to meet the admission requirements. Realise that there is a difference between public and private universities, but most will have the same based admission requirements. Of course, the more competitive the specific programme you want to enter is, the higher your scores in certain areas should be. 

To begin, note that there is no minimum age requirement to study Mass Communication and Media in the United States, but you do need to have graduated from a recognised and accredited high school programme abroad. In addition, most universities will look at your high school transcripts and expect a minimum GPA of 3.0, or a solid ‘B’ average. 

Beyond the graduation and grade average expectations, it is important to remember that universities and colleges in America will want their foreign applicants to have a certain proven level of English proficiency. To study Mass Communication and Media in the United States, you will need to earn a passing score of at least 6.0 on the band of the IELTS exam, or a minimum score of 565 on the TOEFL. Do note that the TOEFL exam is the preferred medium; so if you have not started to prepare for your English test, opt for this one. Universities also reserve the right to admit you on a conditional basis pending a personal English test, usually verbal in nature, directly with them.
