About this course
The FdA Media aims to help you develop the creative, critical, professional and personal skills needed in the competitive and rapidly changing Media landscape. The course and methods of study allow you to engage with the contemporary issues and practices which are transforming media production and consumption. This course focusses on audio-visual production across a range of platforms and outcomes. You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of media, including video, audio, radio, animation, motion-graphics and interactive media. Emphasis can be placed on a medium of your choice and you will be encourage to work outside of conventional forms, where appropriate, so that you are able to investigate and continually respond to the changing conventions of the sector. You will also explore the professional contexts of your media practice, producing a personal, professional development plan and self-promotional materials which will lead into a period of work-based learning. This course runs alongside the FdAs in Graphic Design, Photography and Fine Art, offering opportunities for cross-disciplinary debate and shared experiences for students on these courses.
You need the equivalent of 120 UCAS tariff points from one or more GCE/A Levels, a relevant Level 3 qualification or a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design or substantial recent practical experience, a portfolio of work and appropriate language and numeracy skills. Applications from current professional practitioners are welcomed.
