About this course
This school-based programme enables schools to employ trainee teachers who are not yet qualified and to support them through an individual training programme.
This programme leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), which allows you to work as a qualified teacher in any maintained school in England. The school has ultimate responsibility for your training while the University of Worcester ensures the training programme meets the necessary quality assurance standards.
A needs analysis, which informs the length of the training, is developed at the start of the course. The programme uses your strengths and involves you in taking responsibility for monitoring your own professional development. The course is therefore best suited for trainees who are prepared to work independently and are responsible for their own learning. On the GTP, trainees work as unqualified teachers while following an individual programme of teacher training. The programme normally takes a year but can be shortened for those with teaching experience.
Please be aware that this course is subject to changes in TDA funding and eligibility criteria and until numbers are confirmed, University of Worcester can only make conditional offers.
