About this course

This award is the result of collaboration between Smithers Rapra Ltd and the Department of Engineering and Technology at the University. This is a unique opportunity that allows design engineers, managers and technologists in industry to obtain a formal and relevant qualification in polymer engineering. The award has been designed to support people working in industry or a relevant service sector associated with plastic elastomer products. The course is based on a series of intensive short courses, delivered by Smithers Rapra Ltd, and the University of Wolverhampton. You choose a series of modules which are relevant to your working environment and attend on dates that are convenient to you, followed by supported study and assessment carried out over a period of time at your convenience. You will be taught at Smithers Rapra, Shawbury, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire using their excellent short course teaching facilities. You will also be taught and receive additional support at the University of Wolverhampton’s Telford Campus, where you will have access to highly-advanced facilities including vacuum casting, co-ordinate measurement, rapid manufacturing and Zwick Roell equipment. Resources available include: materials testing, injection moulding, composites manufacture, rapid prototyping, vacuum casting, co-ordinate measurement, CNC machining and computer aided design and simulation.
