About this course
The FD(Arts) in Commercial Video Production provides a range of experiences in the practices and demands of digital video production which will prepare students for employment in commercial video or related industries. The course will additionally enhance the employability of students who already have some professional experience, and prepare students for optional further study via the BA(Hons) Video & Film Production course (to which final year top-up entry will be permitted).
The course fosters an awareness of the need for adaptation, change, and innovation in content and encourages an awareness of global media opportunities.
On successful completion of the course,
¨ You will be a competent video maker with practical skills in video photography, sound, editing and streaming media, and experience in various commercial video programme areas
¨ You will have developed effective methods of working with your peers and with clients, and abilities in analysis of commercial video
¨ You will have gained significant experience from work-based learning and placement opportunities
The emphasis on creative responses to commercial briefs, and the importance of working with other people, will provide you with a powerful set of transferable skills which will enhance your employability, and prepare you for further study.
160-220 points from two full 6-unit awards or one full 12-unit award

Language entry requirements
The University accepts the following minimum English language standards for entry to its degree courses.
You must have at least one of the following standards in English to enter a degree or diploma course:
An IELTS score of 6.0, or a TOEFL score of 550 (or 213 for the computer-based test)
Pearson PTE Academic score of 54
A pass in the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) examination
A pass in the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) examination
GCSE/GCE O Level grade C or equivalent British-based examination
For selected countries, a good pass in English in the final year of secondary school (this being the equivalent of year 13 in England and Wales), or
Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the British Council (as listed in the British Council NARIC Guide) or an equivalent body
For entry to the BA (Hons) English Language and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) programmes, you will need a score of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, since this is a special award which includes an international qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
For entry on to PhD programmes you will need a score of:
IELTS 7.0 or
