Entry Requirements
- GCSE: For all applicants, Grade C or above, or Grade 4 under newly reformed GCSE grading, in English Language and Mathematics or Statistics, or equivalent. Please note the University does not accept Level 2 Key Skills, Functional Skills or Certificates in Adult Numeracy and Literacy as suitable alternatives to GCSEs.
- A-level subjects: Grade C or above in Maths. Points from A-Level General Studies and AS-Level subjects (not taken onto full A-Level) can be included towards overall tariff. You must have a minimum of two A-Levels.
- Relevant subjects: Business, Management
- EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma: To include 6 units in Maths.
- Access: Achievement of the Access to HE Diploma; to include 15 level 3 credits at merit in Maths and 15 level 3 credits at merit in another subject.
- Baccalaureate IB: A minimum grade of 5 in higher level Maths.

Year one
The first year provides a foundation for the development of the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for your future as an economics graduate. This first year allows you to explore how mathematics is used in economic analysis and you will develop your skills in Excel and statistical analysis.

Year two
In the second year, you will study modules that extend your understanding of economics and increase your depth of knowledge. Along with this, statistical and econometric software packages that are readily sought by employers will be introduced.

Final year
All students are encouraged to spend their third year on placement and the curriculum in the first and second years provides support for the process of securing this. Alternatively, students can undertake a study year abroad (SYA). The final year includes a major project, along with modules requiring the integration of the knowledge and abilities gained in the earlier years of study, while the optional modules allow you to focus on particular areas of interest.
