About this course

Boxing teaches discipline and self-confidence, focusing on developing movement, balance, co-ordination and endurance. Our Centre of Sporting Excellence Boxing Academy is run in partnership with the Lions Amateur Boxing Club in Brierley Hill. This means that you can take full advantage of the expertise provided by an Olympic Boxing Coach while you have a go at getting a recognised qualification under your belt. The Lion’s club is equipped with great facilities for you to perfect your boxing skills and you will also study for a recognised sports qualification at Stourbridge College. You will also have the opportunity to compete in local boxing tournaments. To study at the Boxing Academy you will need to apply on line and you will also need to take part in a boxing training session as part of your application process.

If you love sport and learning about how the application of science could improve your performance in sport then this is the course for you. Building upon what you have learnt at school, this one year course will mix both the practical and theoretical aspects of sport and develop your understanding and knowledge across a range of subject areas. It will both challenge you and inspire you to learn more about how you can develop your own sporting performance and that of those around you. Throughout the course you will learn about how your body works and how your mind and thinking will affect your performance. You will also learn about how you can both train your body and test it to discover just how fit you actually are.
