Entry Requirements

The entry requirement will normally be 60 tariff points from one A2, GNVQ, NVQ3, professional qualifications or equivalent. We welcome applications from mature candidates (over age 21) who may not meet the normal entry requirements but whose work experience will have prepared them to succeed in this degree. Admission to the programme will be open to those without formal qualifications who demonstrate that they can successfully complete the programme. Normal university APEL policies and PBS procedures will apply.

Curriculum

This degree is aimed at those who are (or aspire to be) working within an organisation in a supervisory or management role. It seeks to provide the students with the opportunity to develop appropriate knowledge, understanding and skills through a combination of taught units of study, work based learning and an annual three-streamed business conference, which will enable you to make an effective contribution to the organisation. Considerable thought has gone into developing a curriculum which is flexible, relevant to employers and which prepares the successful student for entry to an honours degree.

A fundamental principle of the foundation degree is the support of the employer, especially the provision of a mentor and access to appropriate work-based learning. A mentoring system will be put in place for those in work and a Mentors Handbook has been developed to provide information to the employer and the student on the role of the mentor and what the student should expect from the employer and the mentor.
