Entry Requirements
48 UCAS Points to include: GCSE English ‘C’ or equivalent; GCSE Maths Grade ‘C’ or equivalent; A relevant Access to HE course, BTEC 90 Credit Sub Diploma, or equivalent in a sport related qualification and at least one A2 level in a related subject. Overseas learners can send evidence of qualifications (IELTS 6), work experience, and portfolio electronically (or by post) to the Programme Leader.
Following receipt of this work an interview by phone will be conducted. We welcome applications from learners 21+ who do not match the standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate experience and a commitment to studying this subject at university level.
Curriculum
Year one establishes core knowledge in Sport Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Testing, Psychology and Nutrition. Students will also be supported in acquiring skills in research methods which will assist learners in making an informed choice of their research project study for year two.
In year two learners are required to apply theory to practice led engagement with local sports organisations. Developing a practice led theoretical approach provides students with active in-depth insight into their chosen specialist field. Learners are also required to complete a two-week work placement based within the sport and leisure industry. The programme concludes with a Research Project module which allows the student to focus on their chosen specialist field linking to their future progression into employment or top Honours Degree study.
